Background of VR Simulator Implementation

Safe operation of transporters for moving large equipment and blocks is essential at shipbuilding sites.

However, due to the high cost of actual equipment and risks associated with real-world working environments, training new operators has been a significant challenge.

To address this, the industry has sought VR-based training solutions that can ensure both safety and practical training efficiency.

The newly supplied transporter simulator was developed to meet these needs and offers a high-immersion environment using standardized hardware,

enabling users to repeatedly experience realistic operational procedures.

Key Features and Technical Characteristics

The VR-based transporter simulator is equipped with a multi-monitor interface and head-mounted display (HMD) for immersive training.

It replicates the actual operator cabin with realistic hardware such as controllers, acceleration and braking systems, and steering mechanisms.

This allows trainees to naturally learn equipment characteristics through repeated practice and develop operation skills that can be directly applied in the field.

Expected Impact in Industrial Sites

Transporters are critical not only in shipbuilding but also in various heavy industries.

With this simulator, operators can acquire sufficient proficiency before operating actual equipment, helping to reduce accidents and improve productivity.

Additionally, VR environments allow training regardless of weather, location, or time, providing on-demand accessibility.

From the perspective of companies, the simulator offers a cost-effective and safe training solution, likely to be well-received compared to traditional equipment-based training.

Future Development

This project goes beyond hardware delivery. Future plans include expanding software features and content to provide a wider range of training scenarios.

SimG also aims to broaden its offerings to other essential heavy machinery in industrial fields,

ultimately becoming a leading provider of comprehensive VR-based training content.

With its domestically developed technology, the simulator is expected to have strong competitiveness in global markets.
